WHO AM I?

Hey!

I’m Mark O’Donnell, aka Mark OD from my many years as a DJ.

I began writing about the Manchester drum & bass scene during its rise to global prominence in the late 90s and 00s. That’s where it all started.

As a DJ, event promoter and writer, I lived and breathed every aspect of the culture, documenting key artists and movements through specialist print publications Knowledge and Atmosphere, before becoming editor of ATM. Along the way, I interviewed everyone from Andy C to Jill Scott and Dizzee Rascal. I’ve always had my ear to the ground.

Since the noughties, I’ve specialised in editorial and digital content for brands. Initially as an editor for Time Out London, and later in leadership roles. Waitrose, GoPro, British Airways, Google, Talisker and Vivobarefoot are a few of the brands I’ve worked with. You can find examples in the brand content section.

While my career has spanned media, travel, food and drink, footwear, tech and beyond, it’s been underpinned by the lessons I learnt in the Manchester music scene. My debut book, How You Make Me Feel: The Life and Times of Marcus Intalex, was published by Velocity Press in 2024, and it was organically supported by Goldie, Flight, Metalheadz, The Warehouse Project and more - showing the level of respect the book received.

Today, I combine a deep understanding of how culture moves, editorial storytelling and digital expertise to help brands connect with audiences and deliver commercial success.
